Set painting for 'The Wiz'

The local amateur musical society put on "The Wiz" last week, so I got drafted in to paint the sets. That involved painting ten 16foot high flats, the yellow brick road, the storm cellar and porch of Dorothy's house, an exploding wall and window for said house, the van for the flying "monkees", the basket for the Wizards balloon, the wicked witches throne (that's the demon and the "toilet" in the pictures below) and various other ancillary bits and pieces.

It's always interesting - but it's always very rushed. Doesn't matter too much as the detail isn't really visible from the audience.

I don't have any pictures of the performance yet - I was too busy to go to the show :(
